ORCHIDS
It is always a pleasant diversion in the middle of winter to go to an orchid show. Orchids present their own unique challenge for photography, because they are fairly small and always have posts holding them up and distracting backgrounds. The Canon 100mm F2.8 lens does a nice job of blurring the background, although sometimes the field of sharpness is so narrow, that much of the flower gets blurred as well. Sometimes it is a pleasing blur, and other times, just doesn’t quite make it. The hardest part of orchid photography is keeping your list of favorite shots to a reasonable number of photos. They are all so pretty. The slippers are my favorite.
