Photography has been my hobby ever since my grandmother let me play with her Kodak Brownie camera. Film and processing was very expensive, so we didn’t take a lot of pictures. My grandfather had a 35mm camera and took slides and was the official family photographer. I didn’t get my own camera until I was an adult, and I bought a compact (for the time) Minolta 110 camera with a little automatic flash which was very new technology at the time. A few years later, I bought a 35 mm camera from Sears with a 50 mm lens and a 200 mm lens. This was my main camera for 10 years, until the Canon Elan IIe 35 mm film camera and with that I purchased a Tamron 28-200mm lens. The next camera was a Bronica Medium format camera, but the Elan was still my main camera and I slowly but surely added new lenses to my collection. Digital cameras began to make an appearance, and when the Canon 10d came out, the quality seemed “almost as good” as film and that became my primary camera. When the Canon 40d arrived, it was as good if not better than 35mm film and I converted to Digital entirely and sold my medium format. I’m currently using a Canon 5d miii with some L lenses I have purchased over the years. For astrophotography I use a Canon 60da which was specifically designed for astrophotography.
